01 — Product & Usage

Product & Usage

What is ElderMate?
ElderMate is a family health coordination app. It helps adult children monitor aging parents’ health data, set medication reminders, coordinate care tasks with siblings, and stay connected—without requiring parents to learn new technology.
How is ElderMate different from a simple SOS button or a chat group?
Unlike chat groups where info gets lost, ElderMate uses a patent-pending task-closure logic. Every health alert creates a trackable task that stays “Pending” until a family member confirms action. It’s not just talking; it’s ensuring the care is actually delivered.
Can multiple siblings manage the same parent?
Yes! ElderMate is built for collaboration. You can invite your siblings or professional caregivers to the same family group. Everyone sees the same real-time status, reducing redundant calls and “caregiver burnout.”
Do my parents need to learn how to use the app?
No. The parent app is designed to be as simple as possible: large buttons, automatic voice playback, and only the most essential information. Most parents can start using it without any training.
Does it work if the elder has no smartphone?
For the full experience (voice reminders, SOS button), the elder needs a smartphone or tablet. However, if they only wear a cellular-connected wearable (like Apple Watch), children can still monitor their health data via ElderMate.
What health data can ElderMate track?
ElderMate automatically syncs data from Apple Health and Google Fit, including heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose, steps, and sleep. You can also manually enter readings.
Is ElderMate a medical device?
No. ElderMate is a wellness and family coordination tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a physician for medical concerns. ElderMate relies on third-party data; we cannot guarantee the accuracy of sensors from other manufacturers.
02 — Delivery & Activation

Delivery & Activation

How do I get the app after backing?
After the campaign ends and ElderMate is approved by Apple and Google (estimated Q3 2026), we will email you a promo code. Redeem it in the App Store or Google Play to download and unlock your Premium access.
What if I lose my promo code?
Contact us at support@eldermate.com. We can resend your code or manually mark your account as a backer.
When will the app be available?
We plan to release the first beta version in Q2 2026 to backers, with official launch on App Store and Google Play in Q3 2026.
03 — Subscription & Pricing

Subscription & Pricing

What is the difference between Free and Premium?
Free: Basic manual data sync, 1 family member, basic alerts. Premium: Auto-sync (Apple Health/Google Fit), up to 5 elders, task delegation, voice messaging, PDF reports, and priority support.
Will I have to pay a subscription after my 1-year plan ends?
Yes, after your first year you will have the option to renew at a special “Founder’s Discount” rate (50% off standard price). Lifetime backers never pay again.
What is your pricing after the campaign?
The regular price will be $9.99/month or $59.99/year. Backers lock in savings of up to 70% or lifetime access.
04 — Privacy & Security

Privacy & Security

Is my data secure?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices and will never sell your data.
What happens to my data if ElderMate shuts down?
We promise at least 6 months’ advance notice and full data export capability. Your family’s data belongs to your family.
Do you comply with GDPR / HIPAA?
We follow best practices for privacy and security. While we are not a medical provider, we design our systems to meet high standards of data protection.
05 — Hardware & Compatibility

Hardware & Compatibility

Do I need to buy new hardware?
No. ElderMate works with Apple Health and Google Fit, so it automatically syncs data from devices you may already own (Apple Watch, Fitbit, Bluetooth blood pressure monitors).
Does ElderMate work with Android?
Yes. ElderMate supports both iOS and Android.
Will you make a physical SOS button?
We plan to develop an SOS button as a stretch goal if the campaign reaches certain funding levels. Backers will get priority access. The app-based SOS feature (slide to alert the whole family) is included for all users.
06 — Backer Benefits

Backer Benefits

What is the Honor Wall?
The Honor Wall is a webpage listing the names of all backers who chose to be publicly recognized. Higher tiers appear in special sections with unique badges.
What are the digital badges?
Digital badges are icons displayed on your Honor Wall entry and (in the future) in your app profile to show your support level. They are purely cosmetic and a token of appreciation.
How does voting for Founding Members work?
Every quarter, we’ll email you a private poll with several feature ideas. You cast one vote per poll. The most popular features will be prioritized for development.
07 — Language

Language

Does ElderMate support multiple languages?
Yes. At launch, we will support English and Simplified Chinese. We plan to add more languages based on our community’s feedback.
08 — Refund & Support

Refund & Support

What is your refund policy?
Per Indiegogo’s policy, you can request a refund at any time before the campaign ends. After that, funds are locked for development. If you encounter issues after delivery, contact us and we’ll work with you to resolve them.
How can I contact support?
Email us at support@eldermate.com. We’ll respond within 48 hours.
Is this your first crowdfunding project?
No. ElderMate is brought to you by the same team behind the sodium-ion flashlight project — a campaign that successfully raised a significant amount on Kickstarter and fulfilled all rewards via Indiegogo InDemand. We’ve done this before, and we know what it takes to deliver.
